Back in late 2018, our founder and captain, Josh, found himself at the helm of an all-night youth event—spinning tracks and keeping the energy high. Event planner extraordinaire Jenny pitched a wild idea: *What if we played music bingo?*
Fueled by creativity, Josh whipped up custom playlists and printed paper cards. The result? Pure magic. The room erupted, players were hooked, and the seed for Jindo was officially planted.

The Catalyst: Reimagining How We Gather

When the world shifted in 2020, people needed community, laughter, and lighthearted fun more than ever. Rather than hitting pause, we saw a powerful opportunity to innovate.

We took the magic of live music bingo and rebuilt it from the ground up—stripping away paper waste, ink daubers, and geographical limits. That spark ignited the browser-native platform known as Jindo: a seamless, digital space designed to unite people anywhere, anytime.

From Paper to Pixels: The Birth of Digital Game Cards

As the music faded and the paper cards were swept off the tables after that first late-2018 show, Josh had an epiphany:

"Everyone in the room is already glued to their smartphones—why are we still wasting paper, printing cards, and handing out ink daubers?"

That single realization ignited the Jindo development engine. On November 2, 2018, Josh sketched out the very first wireframe schematics on lined notebook paper—mapping out a browser-native game board, player lobbies, and host controls.

Proof of Concept & Naming the Starship

Before adding sleek graphics or cosmic themes, Josh built a stripped-down, bare-bones web interface to test the core game engine in the real world. It worked instantly—proving that digital music bingo was not only possible, but wildly fun and friction-free.

Next came the big question: What do we name this thing?

Early contenders like "Binjo," "DJingo," and "Mindo" felt too clunky. Searching for something catchy, energetic, and unique, Josh discovered the Jindo—a fiercely loyal, highly intelligent dog breed known for its vibrant spirit and agility. The name clicked instantly: fun, memorable, and full of character. Planet Jindo officially had its name!

Assembling the Crew & Launching Mission Control

Behind every great voyage is an extraordinary crew. Early on, Josh teamed up with Denver, then Robert, then John, to construct the core platform architecture and test game mechanics. Alongside them was Brandon, a foundational creative force who shaped the vivid visual universe of Planet Jindo—leaving an enduring artistic legacy as he recently launched into his own creative endeavors. To chart the enterprise forward, Shawn stepped in as an early believer and business mentor, providing the strategic consulting needed to elevate Jindo from a local concept to a scalable movement.

When 2020 shifted the world toward remote gatherings, this combined foundation allowed Jindo to take flight. Transforming his dining room into Jindo Mission Control, Josh began broadcasting live, high-energy virtual shows—uniting remote corporate teams, families, and online communities through the universal language of music.
